G-Star RAW is a Dutch designer clothing company founded in 1989 that produces fashionable urban clothing. It became a very popular clothing brand among students in Europe.The brand specializes in making RAW denim - an unwashed, untreated denim in which all jeans start out as after being constructed. G-Star is influenced by European fashion trends as well as by military clothing. Inspirations of their designs come from vintage military apparel bought from around the world.

G-Star's flagship stores are located in New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Edinburgh, Australia and the Netherlands in the most luxurious shopping street of Amsterdam, the P.C. Hooftstraat. In total, G-Star has more than 6000 selling points world wide.

In 1996, G-Star was the first brand to unleash a "Raw Denim" style of jeans, completely untreated and straight out of the factory. After this, the number "96" has been sewn into numerous G-Star products as a mark of respect for the year that the signature "Raw Denim" was introduced.
