![]() February 18 Isaac Mizrahi’s show was called 'Central Park Story' which was a perfect fantasy backdrop for his Fall/Winter 2010 collection featuring classic Upper Eastside looks. As with many other designers this season Mizrahi included sparkling details as well as leather and furs. He added quite a bit of colourful highlights to his mostly black, brown and beige primary choices. Michelle Obama recently wore a Mizrahi dress to the State of the Union address which was much better received than her husband’s speech. At the end of the show during the formal wear section artificial snow began to fall on the runway which really bought Mizrahi’s fairytale to life. Ralph Lauren went with a Bohemian chic look. After 40 years in the business Lauren seemed to reference many of his previous classics. The short jackets with high waisted pants, the long skirts and below the knee dresses, the wide belts and long coats were right out of a 1980 wardrobe. Calvin Klein designer Francisco Costa showed a futuristic chic minimalist collection of clean looks mostly in black and white. There were some interesting textures and shapes. Tommy Hilfiger choice to be inspired by his own preppy heritage and went all the way to 1985 to the present. His casual but refined looks mixed materials such as mohair, plaid, leather and wool. It was actually a touching moment since Hilfiger’s show is the last ever at the Bryant Park Venue. Next year Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will relocate to the Lincoln centre. |
