Michael Kors
described his 2010 winter collection as ...all about ease ...relaxed glamour ...the quintessential American sportswear wardrobe urban casual vs country luxe. The Project Runway judge had it perfect for each of his sensational looks. The show began with a coyote vest over a stretched cashmere body suit ...certainly easy but vey sophisticated at the same time. He featured lots of fur and heavy woolen pieces with gigantic fleece scarves for both men and women. Kors always likes to refer to his work as essential American Sportswear but there is always a lot of European sensuality as well.

Nanette Lepore showed a casual glam selection that consisted mostly of short dresses and skirts with tops. The relaxed silhouette allowed for some interesting draping. She used somewhat of a more colorful palette than the standard blacks, grays and beiges that seem to be everywhere. Lepore used red, orange, blue and green and with some baroque tapestry like fabrics. Kelly Osbourne and Abigail Breslin posed together in the front row.

Alexandre Herchcovitch is one of the hottest designers in his native Brazil at the moment. Originally known for his bold patterns and outrageous shapes in recent years he toned it down to include lots of sophisticated basic black looks to appeal to a broader audience. With the use of more intricate textiles for his darker pieces and less bold choices for his patterns he was able to bring these extremes closer together. With the additional use of sparkling embellishments the fusion was made even more complete. The wonderful sophisticated outfits he created had both Latin sensuality and modern appeal.

Forever young Anna Sui has been appealing for a very long time to the youthful but sophisticated woman. The always astute Sui, realizing that price points are an issue in today’s world, has cautiously simplified her look without a loss of attitude or impacted. She recently even designed a collection for Target. As always in what has become her signature head to toe look outfits were carefully matched down to the last detail. This season she was influenced by the work of artist Sarah Schwartz who in turn was inspired by Chinese art. Consequently there was a bit more subtlety in her use of color and prints.

Brian Reyes only began his own label in 2006 after working for Oscar de la Renta for several years. The Columbian native shares a South American sense of sensuality with his mentor as well as elite cliental. Reyes was aiming to be conventional in his basic approach but being young he had a lot of interesting little edgy twists.
